Recruitment for Year Two is complete. The efforts began August 1-September 10, 2011. The Recruitment team consisted of Barb Mednick, Steven Geller, Gary Lindbergh and Carolyn Vinup. Over 400 applications were secured/submitted and 200 students will be given the opportunity to take the training. The team created a new brand message -Be in Demand Upgrade Your Career. Media secured: WCCO TV lead story at 5pm news on August 18, 2011 and Fox 9 News at 10 featured the program on August 19, 2011. Ads were placed in the Star Tribune, Pioneer Press and Outstate MN, we also secured support from many other partners by including our message in their newsletters, posting online and other outreach efforts. This was an amazing team and I welcome the opportunity to join forces again. Year 2 training begins on October 10, 2011.
Year 1: October 2010-April 2011
Overall Mission: to recruit 300 students for the MnHIT (Health Information Technology) grant Normandale secured in April 2010. Currently 170 students are in training for year 1. Recruitment efforts will begin again for Fall 2011 starting in late June 2011.
Outplacement and Career HiTRAC efforts are underway to secure relationships with hospitals, vendors and regional extension centers as well as other organizations seeking individuals with this specialized training.
Over the past year, Normandale has offered an extensive array of workshops and events focused on supporting WorkForce Development and tools that support navigating The New World of Work.
Since many of the students graduating in June 2011 may choose to be independent contractors or consultants we have developed programs that teach preneurial skills to support graduates success.
We live in new times and Normandale is on the cutting edge for offering programs that develop the whole person to thrive in the 21st century.
